A Soldier’s Symphony in the Battlefield

via Daily Prompt: Symphony

We lie in the bush while you lie on your beds at the comfort of your home
We sleep beside our guns while you sleep beside your wives
You sleep in your house, we sleep in hemas
You wear nice hats, we wear heavy helmets
You wear designer’s vests while we wear iron vest

In the morning, you are awaken by sweet alarm tones while we were awaken by horrible sound of bombs and grenades
You move around town in range rovers and latest cars while we move in tanks and buffalos
We stay awake for you to sleep
We kill for you to live
We stand side by side with death itself so that the future of your generation can be assured

We sacrifice our today for your tomorrow
We are strong at heart, great in action, committed to our course, and loyal to our nation
We are soldiers with great zeal and gallantry
We fight relentlessly to win the battle
We continue to fight to fight to conquer insurgency and terrorism

If it is not too much to ask, please pray for us while we are here in the battlefield..
..to conquer in victory so that we can return to our dear family, friends, and loved ones
To the fallen heroes we pray they continue to live on while we fight to the end in victory

In God we trust,
-The Mighty Soldiers

Maturity: Reality Untold

A lot of things have happened in the Philippines recently. The earthquake in Zambales, the battle in Marawi City, the tragedy in Resort World Manila, the rainy season affecting many provinces in some part of the country, the non-stop war on drugs, the opening of classes which requires more classrooms, and a little more. As a result, many men, women and children are displaced and heavily suffering at different levels.

On a positive note, however, the country has a tough president who selflessly loves his country, stands his ground, and has the balls to fight not only in words but also in action. He is not perfect just like anybody else but he is the kind of leader this country currently needs. Leadership is the capacity to translate a Vision into Reality.. but a leader’s success is also determined by its people and those around him.

Honestly, I do not agree with EVERYTHING that PRRD ( President) utters online/offline–in fact, I voted for someone else–but this doesn’t mean I should hate him entirely and not submit to his authority. At this point of time, our  President and the soldiers need our support, not our judgments. They need our prayers, not our condemn words. They need our trust, not crab mentality. And our simple appreciation as well as submission to the authority will give them enough courage and strength to do their job in order to serve & protect us from danger. Let us give it to them–submission to authority and prayers for our leaders, soldiers, volunteers and their families.  This is the heart of a true Filipino. Remember, maturity is when we start understanding small things, pick up the pieces and getting things done.

It’s Your Freedom and So is Mine

Freedom is a gift. Yet, we have enjoyed it too much that we tend to forget how valuable and precious it is.
I am a Filipino and  REAL CHANGE begins with me.

My Dear Filipinos,

I am not against who you will vote for on May 9 national election. I do not care if we differ in presidential bet, in VP, or any other national/local candidates etc. That’s your freedom and so is mine 🙂 BUT I want you to know that I care for the Filipinos and the future of our country. I hope you do too.
As I mentioned, I do not really care if we differ in candidates to vote …but I hope you can assure me that you will not allow evil to take power over your mind. Stay away from any and every form of bribery or deception brought my social media, all forms of advertisement or black propaganda. They are everywhere. Do not fall for them. Do not believe in everything you see or read on the news or on social media. Some are fad, untrue, or no substance at all while most are exaggerated or misinterpreted. Do not let twisted stories on media and false testimonies control you. Instead, do your own research–a quality one.
There are so many stories behind what we see or hear. Often times, we easily draw conclusions from a less than a second edited video that we watch from social media or an exaggerated story on the news just to make it popular . Why is it so easy to react yet so difficult to believe what is true? because it is really hard to distinguish which one is true. There are many truths in democracy. The next time you post or comment on a post on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, forums, etc., before you lambaste and hurt someone with your comments, and before you bombard someone you do not even know with your insensitive words.. why don’t you pause, think, research, reflect and pray for a moment ?

You may not be aware but you may be causing divisiveness among yourselves–your brothers, sisters, family, friends, co-workers, classmates, etc.–just because you differ in ‘who to vote’ or vary in opinions. Let us respect one’s preference and DECISION. This is our FREEDOM. Let’s use it properly while it lasts. What if you wake up one day and it’s gone? Can you imagine yourself without it? Our country truly needs a true and meaningful change. However, that change begins in YOU–in us.

Choose PhilippinesI hope I can trust you that you have scrutinized and pondered very well on who to pick from top positions to down the line As you exercise your freedom and right to suffrage, I beg you to choose someone whose leadership you know and you can willingly follow. If you already did, let me salute you for that. Good job! Truth is, gaano man kagaling at katalino ang ating lider kung hindi sumusunod ang mga followers both are looser.

I say it again real change is not a one-way ticket. The citizens play a vital role on this too. If you decide to be LAW-ABIDING CITIZEN or if you already are… then you have lesser problems in your conquest for REAL CHANGE. Real change begins in you. For no matter who the leader is.. the kind of change we want is not an effort of one but of many. Real change begins in YOU (and me).

Choose someone where your heart is at peace then picture yourself in the leadership of the winning president of the Philippines (whoever will that person be..parang marriage lang din ‘yan! Sino ang pipiliin mo mahal mo o mahal ka? 😀 ) Are you happy? If yes, congratulations! If no, you should act now, don’t you? 🙂

Choose someone whose leadership you know you will willingly follow.

If you are still confused, I’d understand. If by now, you are still undecided or president-less, I’d understand. It is not easy as no candidate is perfect (among them at least). As a citizen, are you perfect? I’m not–but I know what this country needs and I’m willing to be part of it 🙂 Make a checklist of what kind of leadership and political system this country needs.. and pray. PLEASE MAKE UP YOUR MIND and vote wisely on May 9!

If you are excited, I’m excited for you and for the Philippines, too. Yet, don’t stop praying and taking actions. Evil is still evil. While the election is getting closer, the devil is busy. You have the power to trample snakes and evil! IN JESUS’ NAME. Stay alert and vigilant.

Your candidate/s + YOU (law-abiding citizen)!!!! = BETTER PHILIPPINES

Freedom is a gift. I think we have enjoyed it too much that we forget how valuable and precious it is. Sadly, some even overuse it. If you are really craving for change and you see it in a form of dictatorship–so be it. BE PREPARED. Change is never easy.. but if we do our part in the equation with all our power, might, and soul.. it shall be.  Are you ready?

I am Filipino and I love Philippines.. REAL CHANGE BEGINS WITH ME.

…and also with you

Disclaimer: I am a Filipino. English is not my first language. If you see any grammar errors, please understand. I am still learning how to write better. All I need is a little practice. Behind the English vocabulary and grammar is a sincere heart for the Filipino community.

Open Letter: Encourage A Woman 👰

We all come from a mother’s womb. Our stories are unique but our existence is not magic. Everyday, (men and) women everywhere are fighting a battle within we know nothing about. Respect. Encourage a woman today! 🙂

35924_1409531372116_1424559_n.jpgTo all moms out there, blessed are you for having received the gift of childbearing and that you may use this opportunity of childrearing to raise God-loving children.

To all expecting moms, blessed are you for nearly fulfilling the essence of a woman and that excitement and joy reign over any anxieties because the Lord our God blesses with provision, wisdom, and direction.

To all moms who lost theirs, blessed are you still for your beloved has now come in peace and joy with our Creator and may the pain of losing make you stronger and well prepared as you face a more purposeful life ahead!

To all women eagerly wishing, praying, and waiting for the gift of childbearing to come, blessed are you still for God sees your faithfulness, hears your cry, and in time grants you your heart’s desire.

And for us all, may we honor our fathers and mothers for this is the first commandment with a promise of a long life (Ephesians 6:1-3).

Being a woman is a gift from God. Becoming a virtuous woman is a faithful decision.

Little Things 😊 Done with Great Love

More often than not, people receive recognition from achieving big things in life but only a few are recognized for doing LITTLE things with GREAT love. In this blog, I want to commend one. He is Sir Mazakasu Nose..👷 ..a selfless Japanese man with a heart ♡. This man talks less about what he does but this is not the first time I witnessed him doing little things for Baguio with great love. Maybe you recognize him too.

Every morning, this Japanese man carrying a large garbage bag and a pair of tongs voluntarily picks up plastic containers, coffee cups, food wrappers and other trash dumped by undisciplined people passing by Magsaysay Avenue, Abanao Street, and Session Road. He originally came to the Philippines to study English but found love for Baguio–a reason to extend his stay. He started running a small food stall at a local mall to share his unique version of Japanese Takoyaki.

Recently, he was spotted painting a dilapidated overpass near the City Market for free. It seems that he does not want to draw attention but the little things he has been doing is a commendable act. This piece of writing is not enough to applaud him for his act of love and kindness.

On a side note, however, it’s a bit shame to let a guest do the work for us–the citizens. He may have sense of fulfillment and joy for what he is personally doing but this should not excuse the city government, the citizens and the TOURISTS to do what needs to be done:

“I hope Filipinos don’t throw away garbage,” he said.

As a manner of appreciation, we can thank him by dropping by his Takoyaki stall, “Masaya Takoyaki” at 3rd Floor Baguio Center Mall near City Public Market.

[“Masaya” is a Tagalog word for “Happy”]

Wanna go? 😊

Blogger: What Makes Your Day?

Having a rubbish day? Well, turn that frown upside down…
Sometimes we dwell on the things that make us sad, frustrated, or stressed out rather than concentrating on what makes us happy. Like it or not, it takes a little brain training to change our thought process from negative to positive. A good way to do this is by making a list of things that make us happy and keep referring to it every time you feel sad.

Whether you want to write down your favorite quote from a movie, write a new blog, or you stick down a photograph of yourself on one of the happiest days of your life, it’s sure to lift your spirit when you’re feeling down..

People may forget what you SAID,
People may forget what you DID,
but incredible people will never forget how you made them FEEL. ♥♡♥

I am SAF, I Am Dead but it is up to you to keep my cause alive

Right now I am dead. My body is riddled with bullets. My heart was punctured, my brain obliterated, and my soul is now wandering and wondering.

My blood is all over the marshes of Mamasapano, and slowly trickling down into the hands of those who betrayed me.

I am now lifeless. My family is now fatherless and brotherless, and this government has one less personnel to worry about.

I am dead, not because I want to, but because I have to. I am dead, not for my sake but for the sake of peace, and for the sake of everyone in this country.

I am dead because I followed an order. Just like that. As what was said in a movie about soldiers, I follow orders, or people die. In my case, I was the one who ended up dead.

I am dead because an armed struggle cannot be resolved. I am dead because there are dangers lurking in our midst, and I have to be used to shield everyone else against that danger.

I am dead because my leaders say I have to be dead, in order for their greed and ambition to remain alive. I have to die mercilessly and senselessly, because somebody up in our chain of command must live irresponsibly and shamelessly.

Am I the only one who died? Perhaps not. Even truth, decency, nobility and the sense of responsibility also died with me. These values are now dead as well, their importance punctured, their worth obliterated, and their meaning now wandering and wondering.

I am dead, and I am now silenced forever. But when you look into my remains, know that I am screaming, that I am shouting, that I am clamoring for the truth to come out!

I can no longer speak. But my death is more than enough message. Maybe I did not die in vain. Maybe with my demise, my countrymen will rise. I hope my death becomes a springboard for action. I hope not to become just a statistic, not just a body count, not just collateral damage, and not just a casualty of war.

I hope my death would make a difference.

I hope my death would bring change.

With my departure, I hope my fellowmen will become aware, and will be awaken from their stupor of indifference and discord.

Because now that I am dead, it is up to you to keep my cause alive.

Don’t forget these faces and the faces they represent.
Just like YOU..they were once a CHILD, a BROTHER, a dear FRIEND, a BEST FRIEND, a SUITOR, a FIANCE, a FATHER, a HUSBAND, a BREADWINNER, a FAMILY, a MAN, a FOLLOWER of ORDER and now a FALLEN HERO. They’ve put a remarkable mark in the Philippine history. Let us not forget our brave heroes.

Visit Japan: Lesson Learned

I am privileged to have my Autumn trip successfully this year. This is one of most remarkable travel experiences I’ve had. I fell in love with Japan. I’ve discovered culture and differences, and most importantly, I’ve learned a lot from this 10-day trip.

Trip to Japan: November 2015
Duration: 10 days
Places: Nagoya, Kyoto, Shizuoka, and Tokyo
Super Likes: Food, people, transportation system, Mt. Fuji, Autumn colors, a lot more. 🙂

Little by little I will share them more of my Japan experiences in my succeeding posts.

When you travel, you will see many things. Your perspective may change. Your passion can be redirected. You will even see a clearer picture of yourself and the future you wish to have only if you sincerely search for it while you are traveling. You will begin to expand your horizon. You just have to figure out how to start and how to keep going. Don’t stop. Research. Plan. Act. Do. Outsmart it.

It’s my first time to travel to Japan.  I cannot deny but I am quite amazed at how Japanese creatively devise mechanisms to innovate and create jobs for people not only for local citizens but also for other nationalities. I wish someday I can learn some technology, innovate my own, and create jobs for my fellowmen. I hope to share the same vision with other young Filipinos who are aspiring entrepreneurs.

Saving Tips: A Billionaire’s Wisdom

There are many people who are struggling to survive amidst financial crisis. It doesn’t really matter whether you are rich or poor. If you are rich, great! Keep running so you will remain where you are; if you are not, maybe you need to start thinking about how you can take yourself to a higher level. The good news is, there are lessons for all to learn from a billionaire–Li Ka Shing, a Hong Kong business magnate, investor, and philanthropist. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, as of November 2015, he is among the richest people in Asia, with a net worth of $31.7 billion. 🙂 I am sharing this here because I myself have reflected on it and doing it in practice (although I am not a millionaire YET 😀 ). I believe there are people who might come across this blog and be inspired. It is possible.

This article is translated from the original Chinese by Edmund Ng at CeoConnectz.

Suppose your monthly income is only RMB 2,000, you can live well. I can help you put money into five sets of funds. The first $600, second $400, third $300, fourth $200, fifth $500.

The first set of funds is used for living expenses. It’s a simple way of living and you can only be assigned to less than twenty dollars a day. A daily breakfast of vermicelli, an egg and a cup of milk. For lunch just have a simple set lunch, a snack and a fruit. For dinner go to your kitchen and cook your own meals that consist of two vegetables dishes and a glass of milk before bedtime. For one month the food cost is probably $500-$600. When you are young, the body will not have too many problems for a few years with this way of living.

Second set of funds: To make friends, expand your interpersonal circle. This will make you well off. Your phone bills can be budgeted at RMB 100. You can buy your friends 2 lunches a month, each at $150. Who should you buy lunch for? Always remember to buy lunch for people who are more knowledgeable than you, richer than you or people who have helped you in your career. Make sure you do that every month. After one year, your circle of friends should have generated tremendous value for you. Your reputation, influence, added value will be clearly recognized. You’ll also enhance your image of being good and generous.

Third set of funds: To learn. Monthly spend about RMB 50 to RMB 100 to buy books. Because you don’t have a lot of money, you should pay attention to learning. When you buy the books, read them carefully and learn the lessons and strategies that is being taught in the book. Each book, after reading them, put them into your own language to tell the stories. Sharing with others can improve your credibility and enhance the affinity. Also save up $200 per month to attend a training course. When you have higher income or additional savings, try to participate in more advanced training. When you participate in good training, not only do you learn good knowledge, you also get to meet like-minded friends who are not easy to come by.

Fourth set of funds: Use it for holidays overseas. Reward yourself by traveling at least once a year. Continue to grow from the experience of life. Stay in youth hostels to save cost. In a few years you would have travelled to many countries and have different experiences. Use that experience to recharge yourself so that you’ll continually have passion in your work.

Fifth set of funds: Invest. Save the $500 in your bank and grow it as your initial startup capital. The capital can then be used to do a small business. Small business is safe. Go to wholesalers and look for products to sell. Even if you lose money, you will not lose too much money. However, when you start earning money, it will boost your confidence and courage and have a whole new learning experience of running a small business. Earn more and you can then begin to buy long-term investment plans and get long-term security on your financial wealth being of yourself and your families. So that no matter what happens, there will be adequate funds and the quality of life will not decline.

Well, after struggling for a year and if your second year salary is still RMB 2,000, then that means you have not grown as a person. You should be really ashamed of yourself. Do yourself a favour and go to the supermarket and buy the hardest tofu. Take it and smash it on your head because you deserve that.

If your monthly income is at RMB 3,000, you must still work very hard. You must try to find a part time job. It will be great to find part time sales jobs. Doing sales is challenging, but it is the fastest way for you to acquire the art of selling and this is a very deep skill that you will be able to carry it for the rest of your career. All successful entrepreneurs are good sales people. They have the ability to sell their dream and visions. You’ll also meet many people that will be of value to you in the later part of your career. Once you’re in sales, you will also learn what sells and what not. Use the sensitivity of detecting market sentiments as a platform for running your business and in the identification of product winners in the future.

Try to buy minimal clothes and shoes. You can buy them all you want when you’re rich. Save your money and buy some gift for your loved ones and tell them your plans and your financial goals. Tell them why you are so thrifty. Tell them your efforts, direction and your dreams.

Businessmen everywhere need help. Offer yourself to do part time for any kind of opportunities. This will help to hone your will and improve your  skills. You will start to develop eloquence and soon, you’ll be closer to your financial goals. By the second year, your income should be increased to at least RMB 5,000. Minimum it should be RMB 3,000, otherwise you would not be able to keep up with inflation.

No matter how much you earn, always remember to divide it into five parts proportionately. Always make yourself useful. Increase your investment in networking. When you increase your social investment, expand your network of contacts, your income also grows proportionately. Increase your investment in learning, strengthen your self confidence, increase investment in holidays, expand your horizons and increase investment in the future, and that will ultimately increase your income.

Maintain this balance and gradually you will begin to have a lot of surplus. This is a virtuous circle of life plans. Your body will start to get better and better as you get more nutrition and care. Friends will be aplenty and you will start to make more valuable connections at the same time. You will then have the conditions to participate in very high-end training and eventually you’ll be exposed to bigger projects, bigger opportunities. Soon, you will be able to gradually realize your various dreams, the need to buy your own house, car, and to prepare an adequate education fund for your child’s future.

Life can be designed. Career can be planned. Happiness can be prepared. You should start planning now. When you are poor, spend less time at home and more time outside. When you are rich, stay at home more and less outside. This is the art of living. When you are poor, spend money on others. When you’re rich, spend money on yourself. Many people are doing the opposite.

When you are poor, be good to others. Don’t be calculative. When you are rich, you must learn to let others be good to you. You have to learn to be good to yourself better. When you are poor, you have to throw yourself out in the open and let people make good use of you. When you are rich, you have to conserve yourself well and don’t let people easily make use of you. These are the intricate ways of life that many people don’t understand.

When you are poor, spend money so that people can see it. When you are rich, do not show off. Just silently spend the money on yourself. When you are poor, you must be generous. When you are rich, you must not be seen as a spendthrift. Your life would have come full circle and reach its basics. There will be tranquility at this stage.

There is nothing wrong with being young. You do not need to be afraid of being poor. You need to know how to invest in yourself and increase your wisdom and stature. You need to know what is important in life and what is worth investing in. You also need to know what you should avoid and not spend your money on. This is the essence of discipline. Try to avoid spending money on clothing, but buy a selective number of items that have class. Try to eat less outside. If you were to eat outside, do make sure you buy lunches or dinners and foot the bill. When buying people dinner, make sure you buy dinners for people who have bigger dreams than you, and work harder than you.

Once your livelihood is no longer an issue, use the remainder of your money to pursue your dreams. Spread your wings and dare to dream! Make sure you live an extraordinary life!

Famous theory from Harvard: The difference of a person’s fate is decided from what a person spends in his free time between 20:00 to 22:00 . Use these two hours to learn, think and participate in meaningful lectures or discussion. If you persist for several years, success will come knocking on your doors.

No matter how much you earn, remember to split your salary into five parts. Take care of your body so that it will still be in good shape. Invest in your social circle so that you will constantly meet new people where you can learn new knowledge from. Expanding your network will also have an important impact in how much you earn eventually. Travel every year and expand your horizons. Also keep abreast with the latest developments in the industry. If you follow this plan diligently, you will soon see big surplus in your funds.

Whatever happened in the past is over. Do not dwell on past mistakes. There’s no point crying over spilt milk. Everybody makes mistakes. It’s what you learn from the mistakes, and promising yourself not to repeat those mistakes that matters. When you miss opportunities, don’t dwell on it, as there are always new opportunities on the horizon.

Being able to smile when being slightly misunderstood is good upbringing. When you’re wronged and you smile with calmness, it is generosity. When you’re being taken advantage of and you can smile, you’re being open-minded. When you are helpless and you can do a philosophical smile, you’re in a calm state. When you’re in distress and you can laugh out loud, you’re being generous. When you’re looked down and you can calmly smile, you’re being confident. When you’re being jilted in relationships and you can smile it off, you’re being suave. Original

It doesn’t really matter whether you are rich or poor. If you are rich, great! Keep running so you will remain where you are; if you are not, maybe you need to start thinking about how you can take yourself to a higher level.
